The advances in digital technology, the ease of
using equipment and forming a compact film unit
makes video film making easier to learn and use
today. The courses at ITFPA offer a combination of
creative, technical and managerial abilities to
handle filming as part of a full unit or short
independent productions. Full and short term courses
provide training programs which lead into full-time
professional, freelance or part-time filming
Production is about organization, determination and
improvisation with budget and time limits. Direction
is the creative curve with a deeper understanding of
story form, semiotics of the film language,
characterization, actors; and technique through
camera, movements, visual composition, light and
lens.
The main courses are Production & Direction of
Video Films, Camera and Video Filming, for three
and a
half months each. Shorter courses are a lift
off from the same approach, made concise, to train
in terms of days and hours. Courses are taught by
professionals from local / regional television and
video industry, with an active involvement of
visiting faculty from various fields of media
communication.
Many trainees from ITFPA get placed as employed or
freelance assistants for production & direction;
presenters in various local television channels and
program production companies; many get into
independent work as producer & directors with their
own production units.
